ABOUT US

The Keep It Closed campaign is a business-friendly, nonprofit initiative committed to reducing energy waste from retail stores that keep their doors open while running heating or air conditioning systems. Founded in September 2024 in the Bay Area, the campaign has grown across California and even gained some national support.

We’ve secured more than a 1700 verified signatures (via Change.org) from small business owners, environmental advocates, and concerned citizens who support a simple, data-backed truth: keeping doors closed saves energy, cuts emissions, and promotes climate responsibility, without hurting business or customers.

Keep It Closed is a grassroots initiative led by Nathan Paris, a dedicated High School Senior committed to reducing energy waste through actionable change. Everything from advocacy planning and public engagement to developing free tools, such as educational flyers, energy efficiency guides, and materials focused on community engagement, Nathan independently manages every aspect of the organization. Whether it’s a local bookstore or a national retail chain, Keep It Closed helps small and large businesses alike take meaningful steps to be more climate conscious, one closed door at a time.

As we continue to grow, our goal is clear: to build a culture of climate consciousness by helping businesses adopt simple, proven practices, starting with keeping their doors closed.
